What I do other than bike racing: work and travel
Family Status: single
Best accomplishments on a bike: I did well enough to enable
me to race in France, Belgium, Holland and Japan over the years.
How and when did you get into bike racing? I used cycling as
dryland training for hockey. When I finished playing hockey I kept on cycling.
What would you consider your best strengths as a cyclist? Getting
in long breakaways, hopefully with no one else so I don’t have to sprint! Hanging
out at coffee houses in Tucson.
What is your most shining moment on a bike? Winning an
important ‘selection’ stage race; thereby allowing me to represent Canada at the 1994
Commonwealth Games in the RR along with the TTT.
Most embarrassing moment on a bike? A few things that come to
mind are wild parsnip, thin ice, pitching myself onto the ground in the Amana sprint.
Pick one I guess.
When off the bike, what can we often find you doing? Mining for old abandoned derailleurs found on the Kalona trails and
selling them on eBay.
Favorite movies? Napolean Dynamite, Sideways, No Country for
Old Men
Favorite musical artist? Arcade
Fire, G’n’R, Stompin’ Tom Connors
Favorite food (no pasta, please!)? French Poutine (great
recovery food after a long race!)
